Headstart Hatching is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Hatchery Manager $5000 SIGN IN BONUS
POSITION PURPOSE The Hatchery Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations at the hatchery to ensure the efficient, safe, and high-quality incubation and hatching of poultry. This role ensures optimal environmental conditions, maintains compliance with biosecurity and regulatory standards, and supports production goals through effective planning and resource management. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise and a passion for animal welfare and operational excellence. RESPONSABILITIES
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the operation of hatchery to ensure the best performance results.
Direct and coordinate hatchery activities such as setting and hatching eggs, maintenance of hatchery building, maintaining of incubation and hatching equipment, poult services and the poult loadout.
Plan egg setting/hatching schedules based on the customers’ requests for specific egg set volumes.
Work with hatchery supervisors, making sure that they are fully competent in supervising their respective areas of responsibility.
Inspect the most important processes that supervisors are responsible for to ensure accuracy, efficacy, and efficiency.
Lead, train, motivate, and mentor employees in the hatchery with the objective of building and maintaining a high performing team to meet or exceed production goals such as hatchability, poult quality and competitive poult cost.
Review the key indicators of daily, weekly and monthly hatchery performance.
Promote all-inclusive hatchery culture with focus on open communication, employee engagement and sense of belonging.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Follow and enforce all company regulations pertaining to bio security, animal welfare and safety.
Collaborate with other LSI companies in a constructive manner.
Establish and maintain respectful working relationships with business partners (egg suppliers and poult customers).
Must be willing to work varied schedules since some weekends will be required.
Follow the directives of the General Manager
Perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and educational background:
A bachelor’s degree is preferred. Equivalent knowledge and experience (six plus years) with proven leadership skills may apply.
Experience formulating operational budgets is highly preferred.
Experience building and managing a team of highly engaged employees is critical to the success of this role
Experience with HVAC Systems, boiler equipment, or other mechanical systems is preferred.
Experience working in an agricultural industry and/or live production environment is highly preferred.
Travel
Given the responsibilities within this production environment, the ideal candidate will reside near the facility.
Other
Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
A valid state driver’s license is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS Hatcheries have a range of working conditions depending on the department. Majority of the positions have a room temperature of the mid to high 70s. Fluff is a natural byproduct of hatching birds, which can be spread throughout the facility. Cleaning is very important to maintain a safe environment for the poults, so some washing with hot water may be required which may raise humidity in certain cases. Deviations of these conditions is dependent on department and the need for eggs or poults.
